PUTRAJAYA — Malaysia has reported no anthrax cases since 1976, the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) confirmed today, amid a deadly outbreak in Thailand that claimed one life. The Thai case, linked to cattle slaughter and raw beef consumption near the Laos border, prompted DVS to heighten surveillance. Authorities assured that no livestock or animal products from affected Thai areas are entering Malaysia. DVS urged local farmers to watch for symptoms like high fever or sudden livestock deaths, especially ahead of Hari Raya Korban, and to maintain strict farm biosecurity and health checks.
