Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu clarified that Hamas's promised release of US-Israeli hostage Edan Alexander would not result in a Gaza ceasefire or Palestinian prisoner release. He emphasized that negotiations for all hostages would continue alongside intensified military operations. While Hamas reported direct talks with the US in Doha and "progress" towards a ceasefire, Netanyahu stated Israel only committed to a safe corridor for Alexander's release, crediting "military pressure" for this development. Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza persist, with a recent attack on a school housing displaced people resulting in at least 10 deaths. Netanyahu also said that Hamas has been presented with a deal that would enable the release of hostages. Hamas currently holds 58 hostages from the October 7, 2023 attack, with the Israel military stating 34 are deceased.
