Former national shuttler Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin, now coaching in Ireland, is reportedly a potential candidate for a role at the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM). Currently in Malaysia for the Malaysia Masters with Ireland's national team, Iskandar guided Irish No. 1 Nhat Nguyen to a first-round victory over Malaysia's Leong Jun Hao. BAM, seeking a new women’s singles coach, has informally contacted him, though Iskandar remains focused on his contract with Badminton Ireland until 2028. He emphasized his commitment to his family and coaching development, but expressed a long-term interest in coaching at home. Since joining Badminton Ireland in 2021, Iskandar has helped players like Nhat and Rachel Darragh make significant strides, including Olympic qualifications. He aims to elevate Irish badminton on the European stage and is focused on building a strong foundation for future success.
