Kedah vape shop operators have until December to cease operations, with no extension, as the state implements a ban on e-cigarette sales. The state government, citing public health and the curbing of synthetic drug abuse, considers the seven-month grace period sufficient for traders to adapt. This decision was finalized in a meeting with all Kedah local councils, aligning with the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024. Terengganu and Perlis have announced similar bans. Kedah's Menteri Besar previously stated that vape outlet business licenses would not be renewed, part of a broader effort against synthetic drug misuse, including among students, due to illegal substances being mixed into vape liquids. Full enforcement, including fines and confiscations, will begin early next year. The state is also urging federal authorities to revoke manufacturing and sales licenses for vape products.
