KUALA LUMPUR — Manchester United arrived in Malaysia for their Asia tour just hours after ending their worst season since 1974 with a 2-0 win over 10-man Aston Villa.
A 32-man squad, including Garnacho and Onana, flew in for Wednesday’s friendly against a Southeast Asian XI at Bukit Jalil Stadium, followed by a match in Hong Kong on Friday.
Despite a disappointing season, United aim to earn around US$10 million from the tour. Manager Ruben Amorim apologized for the “disaster” campaign, with a squad rebuild looming.
Tough weather awaits, with high heat and storms forecast in both Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong.
