SINGAPORE — A former Singapore police officer, Koh Kian Tiong (also known as Mark Koh), was sentenced to nine years in jail for taking S$47,700 in bribes from a gambling kingpin in 2006.
Koh, who served with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), leaked police intel to illegal gambling operator Chua Chin Hoe and introduced him to other officers, leading to lavish entertainment sessions costing over S$27,000.
Koh fled Singapore in 2007 after learning he was under investigation. He was arrested and deported from China in 2024. He pleaded guilty to five corruption charges and one count of desertion.
He was also fined S$1,000 and ordered to repay the full bribe amount or face additional jail time.
