A 27-year-old housewife lost RM112,206 after falling for a fake handicraft job advertised on Facebook.
She contacted the so-called employer via Messenger on May 19 and was asked to pay RM100 to start. Later, she was added to a WhatsApp group promising high commissions for completing tasks.
Believing the offer, she made 28 payments to 10 different bank accounts using her savings. When she asked for a refund, the scammer claimed the company’s account was frozen.
Realising she had been scammed, she lodged a police report. The case is now under investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
