SEPANG — Three individuals, including a retired police sergeant major, were arrested for impersonating police officers during a drama shoot near Lakefront Residence, Cyberjaya, on May 25.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the arrests occurred when a police station chief confronted the suspects during a routine patrol. A search of their vehicle revealed police-related props such as toy guns, uniforms, cones, vests, roadblock signs, and handcuffs — all used without official approval.
The suspects, aged 29 to 64, had been freelancing for local productions for about four months, portraying officers in scenes involving checkpoints and searches.
Hussein stressed that using Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) assets without permission is a serious offence. He urged production teams to seek proper approval from Bukit Aman's Corporate Communications Department to avoid misleading the public and tarnishing the force’s image.
