The Malaysian Bar is urging swift action on the Senior Citizens Bill, citing the need for strong legal protection as Malaysia nears aged nation status by 2040.
With over half of 54-year-old EPF contributors lacking sufficient savings, the Bar calls for rights-based protections, elder abuse safeguards, regulated care homes, and expanded support systems.
It also supports raising the retirement age to 65 and adopting gerontechnology, while offering legal expertise to strengthen the law.
