French President Emmanuel Macron kicked off his two-day state visit to Singapore with a lively stop at the Lau Pa Sat hawker centre on Wednesday night, alongside Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and their spouses. The casual visit drew cheers of “vive la France” as surprised diners rushed to capture the moment.
Macron sampled local dishes and greeted the crowd before heading to the Fullerton Hotel. Today, he will attend an official welcome ceremony, meet President Tharman, and witness the signing of agreements on defence, AI, transport, and more.
Macron will also deliver the keynote at the Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia’s top security and defence forum.
