Oscar Piastri delivered a flawless drive to win the Spanish Grand Prix, extending his championship lead by 10 points over teammate Lando Norris, reclaiming momentum after Norris’ Monaco triumph last week.

The race also highlighted the highs and lows of defending world champion Max Verstappen. A late Safety Car saw Red Bull switch him to hard tyres — a risky move that left him vulnerable. On the restart, Verstappen nearly lost control, was passed by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc after contact, and then clashed with George Russell at Turn 1.

Though Verstappen held position, he did so by running off track and was handed a 10-second penalty, finishing a disappointing 10th.
