S.J. Surya won the Telangana government's Best Supporting Actor award for his role in the movie 'Suriya's Saturday' (released last year, where Nani was the lead, directed by Vivek Athreya, and Priyanka Mohan was the heroine; S.J. Surya played the villain). The film was a commercial success, grossing ₹100 crore worldwide and receiving positive reviews.

S.J. Surya thanked the team, the Telangana government, the director, Nani, and the producer on X. Nani congratulated S.J. Surya, calling him "everything" in the film, not just a supporting actor.

S.J. Surya initially replied with a simple "Thanks Natural Star." However, he later apologized to Nani, explaining he was busy shooting and his initial response was inadequate. He acknowledged that the award wouldn't have been possible without Nani and the director Vivek's support.
