During the Southwest Monsoon (May–September), the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) is focusing on heat, heavy rain, and strong winds linked to natural disasters. Director-General Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad highlighted the department's preparedness for dry spells, heavy afternoon downpours, and potential storms.Though no extreme El Niño is expected, JBPM remains alert for fire risks during dry periods and rescues due to flash floods and strong winds. Fire incidents have decreased this year, with fewer emergency calls compared to last year. The public is urged to stay alert, follow weather warnings, and avoid water activities during heavy rain, especially during school holidays.
