Bruno Fernandes has turned down a £100 million offer from Saudi club Al Hilal to remain at Manchester United, insisting he wants to keep playing at the highest level. Speaking from Portugal's Nations League camp, the United captain confirmed Al Hilal approached him, but he chose to stay and be part of new manager Ruben Amorim’s rebuild.
Despite United's poor season — finishing 15th and losing the Europa League final — Fernandes stood out with 19 goals and 19 assists. He revealed manager Amorim asked him to stay, and the club was willing to let him go but didn’t push for a sale.
Fernandes said it would’ve been easy to join familiar faces in Saudi Arabia, but his passion for competing at the top drove his decision. Former captain Gary Neville praised the move, calling it a “significant” show of leadership and loyalty.
