Malaysians rally behind Pearly, Thinaah after Indonesia Open loss

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's top women's doubles team Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah received an outpouring of support from fans after a hard-fought loss to China's world No. 1 Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning in the Indonesia Open final today in Jakarta.

The intense match at Istora Senayan kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

The Malaysian pair pushed their opponents to the limit before falling 23-25, 21-12, 21-19 in 87 minutes.

Despite the defeat, Pearly and Thinaah were widely commended for their grit, resilience and determination on court.

Malaysian fans flooded social media, including NST Online's Facebook page, with messages of encouragement and admiration, celebrating the pair not only for their performance, but also for their sportsmanship and perseverance.

User Vigneswaran Sivalingam said: "They gave their best and lifted the Jalur Gemilang up."
