IPOH — Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) has confirmed the identities of all 15 students who died in a tragic bus crash near Tasik Banding, Gerik, early this morning.

The victims, aged between 20 and 23, were on a chartered bus heading from Jertih, Terengganu, to the UPSI campus in Tanjung Malim when the collision occurred between 12.30 am and 1 am.

Post-mortems were completed at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun and Hospital Gerik. That evening, the students’ remains were transported in a convoy to Jertih, accompanied by police escorts from Perak and Kelantan.

Once in Jertih, 13 of the bodies were taken to Masjid Hadhari for funeral prayers before being laid to rest in their hometown cemeteries.
