KUALA LUMPUR — In response to the fatal UPSI bus crash, the government is working on a new policy to mandate speed limiters for heavy vehicles to improve road safety.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the proposal is under thorough review to prevent loopholes or tampering. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to safeguarding road users from reckless driving and unsafe heavy vehicles.

The announcement follows a tragic crash on the East-West Highway near Gerik, where a chartered bus carrying UPSI students collided with an MPV, killing 15 students and injuring 33 others.
