ATLANTA — Chelsea began their Club World Cup campaign with a 2-0 win over LAFC in Group D, despite playing in a nearly empty stadium with around 50,000 vacant seats.
Goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez secured the victory, with new signing Liam Delap making his debut off the bench and assisting Fernandez’s goal.
Coach Enzo Maresca praised the performance, calling it a strong start as Chelsea aim to reclaim their place among Europe’s top clubs following their recent UEFA Conference League win and Champions League return.
