The Higher Education Ministry has raised RM1.7 million through the KPT Prihatin Fund to support victims and families affected by the tragic Gerik bus crash, which claimed 15 UPSI student lives. The funds, contributed by 40 higher learning institutions, government agencies, corporations, and the public, are being distributed in stages, with RM371,000 already disbursed. Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir donated a month’s salary in solidarity and praised the collective effort. The donation drive, managed by UPSI, will close this Friday. A Tahlil ceremony attended by 5,000 people was held at UPSI, where mock cheques from various contributors were also presented.
