Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, has instructed the Federal Territories Department (FTD) to work with the Road Transport Department (RTD) to address legal loopholes surrounding abandoned vehicles in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. With over 2,500 complaints annually in KL alone, she stressed the urgency of resolving issues that hinder the towing and disposal of such vehicles, especially those on private property or stuck in depots due to legal hurdles. After visiting a licensed automotive treatment centre, Dr Zaliha called for a faster, cleaner disposal process and urged vehicle owners to voluntarily surrender unwanted vehicles for proper disposal and cash compensation.
