Malaysia’s National Sports Council (NSC) is launching a more integrated athlete development pathway, focusing on 20 High-Performance Core Sports including badminton, athletics, and silat. This initiative unites efforts by the NSC, Education Ministry (MoE), Higher Education Ministry (MoHE), and sports associations to streamline athlete grooming from schools to national teams.
Each agency will implement these 20 core sports within their respective levels, with coordinated training programmes to ensure consistency. Officials from MoHE and MoE praised the alignment as a major step forward in national sports development. The move follows a Cabinet Committee decision in April to boost sports through a focused, efficient strategy.
