SAN JOSE — El Salvador and Curacao played to a goalless draw in their Gold Cup Group B opener in San Jose, with El Salvador goalkeeper Mario Gonzalez making three key saves.
Curacao dominated possession (60.3%) and came closest to scoring in the 64th minute when Jearl Margaritha’s shot deflected off a defender, hit the crossbar, and bounced out.
Curacao keeper Eloy Room made two saves to preserve the clean sheet. Group B action continues Sunday in Houston, with Curacao facing Canada and El Salvador taking on Honduras.
