A 38-year-old driver involved in a fatal crash that killed two teenage girls has been charged in the Temerloh Magistrate’s Court with drug trafficking and reckless driving.

Chun Kok Keong from Kepong faces a trafficking charge for possessing over 50g of methamphetamine on June 12, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment and whipping, under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. No plea was recorded, as the case falls under High Court jurisdiction.

He also pleaded not guilty to possessing 0.85g of heroin and was granted RM4,500 bail for that charge, with the case set for mention on Sept 18.

Additionally, Chun pleaded not guilty to two counts of dangerous driving that caused the deaths of 18-year-olds Nur Erdina Shaffiya and Aneez Irdiena Sofya on June 11. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a RM50,000 fine if convicted. Bail was denied due to the trafficking charge. Mention for the driving charges is set for July 17.
