Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has denounced Israel’s recent airstrikes on Iran as “punitive and unprovoked,” warning they violate international law and threaten peace efforts.
Speaking at the 38th Asia-Pacific Roundtable, Anwar urged powerful nations to act swiftly and decisively to halt further escalation. He said the attacks aimed to derail ongoing peace talks in the region.
Addressing the Gaza conflict, Anwar condemned the high civilian toll, especially among women and children, and called for urgent international action, an immediate ceasefire, and unrestricted humanitarian aid.
He also warned that the global rules-based order is at risk if such violations go unchecked.
Turning to regional tensions in the Taiwan Strait, Korean Peninsula, and South China Sea, Anwar stressed the need for dialogue, restraint, and a rules-based, inclusive security structure in the Asia-Pacific.
He said Malaysia supports active non-alignment and called for cooperative efforts to maintain regional stability.
