SEPANG — KLIA Customs has seized 30.14kg of drugs worth RM2.65 million in multiple busts involving cannabis, ecstasy, and methamphetamine.
KLIA Customs director Zulkifli Muhammad said that on April 17, a man attempting to board a flight to Europe was caught with 14.65kg of cannabis buds hidden in vacuum-sealed packs inside his luggage. He was flagged by the Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) due to a blacklist and tried to flee during inspection but was swiftly arrested.
On May 16, officers intercepted a cargo consignment in the KLIA Free Trade Zone containing 5.31kg of ecstasy, falsely declared as laptop parts. The drugs were believed to be from Europe.
A week later, on May 24, 10.18kg of syabu worth nearly RM300,000 was found concealed among clothes in another shipment.
Investigations into both consignments are ongoing, though complicated by the use of fake company names and addresses.
