KUALA LUMPUR — After 42 years of service, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain officially handed over his role to Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail today at a ceremony in Pulapol Kuala Lumpur.
Razarudin praised Khalid’s leadership as he takes over as Malaysia’s 15th IGP and also congratulated Datin Sri Munirah Che Rose, who was appointed as the new PERKEP Malaysia chairperson. He also acknowledged newly appointed senior officers in key police departments.
Reflecting on his tenure, Razarudin highlighted major achievements, including increased funding for police infrastructure, improved border security, and training reforms. He proposed forming a dedicated Cyber and Technology Department and upgrading the KL Police College into a regional research hub.
Importantly, he urged the government to consider establishing a standalone police ministry to enhance the force’s effectiveness. Stressing integrity and public trust, Razarudin thanked all PDRM members and wished his successor well.
