PARIS — French police have arrested 12 suspects after 145 people reported being pricked with syringes during the nationwide Fête de la Musique celebration. Authorities noted “unprecedented crowds” in Paris, where 13 incidents were reported.
Victims across the country, including teenagers, said they felt unwell after being jabbed, and some were hospitalized for toxicology tests. In Angoulême alone, four suspects allegedly targeted around 50 people.
Beyond the syringe cases, over 370 arrests were made during the festival, with 14 participants and 13 police officers injured. Despite the troubling attacks, Paris police said no major incident was recorded.
