KUALA LUMPUR — A new Ipsos poll shows growing optimism among Malaysians about AI, with 54% believing it will improve their jobs within the next 3–5 years — up from 39% in 2024.
However, 63% also fear AI could replace their jobs, making Malaysia one of the most anxious nations about AI-driven job loss, just behind Thailand and Indonesia. Over half (55%) say AI makes them feel nervous.
Despite these concerns, 73% trust the government to regulate AI responsibly — a higher rate than in countries like Japan or the U.S. Experts say balancing innovation and job security will be key as AI becomes more central to Malaysia’s digital economy.
