BANGKOK — Thailand’s army has shut border crossings with Cambodia in six provinces, allowing only essential travel for medical care and students, as a territorial dispute intensifies.

The move affects both Thais and foreigners, including tourists using the key Aranyaprathet-Poipet route. The closures follow recent clashes that killed a Cambodian soldier and come amid escalating trade restrictions from Cambodia, including bans on Thai imports and media content.

Cambodian PM Hun Manet visited troops and evacuees at the border, while Thailand faces political fallout from a leaked call involving PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra, deepening the crisis.

Cambodia has now sought help from the International Court of Justice to resolve disputes over four border sites, including ancient temples. Tensions over the frontier, drawn during the French colonial era, have led to at least 28 deaths since 2008.
