KOTA KINABALU — Two student activists, Muhammad Fadhil Kasim and Aliff Danial Badrul Akmal Hisham, were arrested under the Sedition Act after attending a rally in Sabah where a caricature of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was burned.

Activist Qistina Qaisara said the pair were detained at Sabah police HQ while assisting in an acid attack investigation on their car. She claimed the arrest was aggressive and occurred before their lawyers arrived.

Sabah police earlier confirmed investigations under the Peaceful Assembly Act, including for incitement and open burning. The Gempur Rasuah Sabah 2.0 rally was peaceful until the caricature burning, which sparked public backlash.
