Williams hits ton for Zimbabwe, but South Africa stay on top.

Sean Williams struck a brilliant 137 off 163 balls, carrying Zimbabwe's hopes with more than half of their total score of 251. Despite his effort, South Africa remained firmly in control after Day 2 of the first Test in Bulawayo.South Africa, having declared at 418/9, took a 167-run lead and extended it to 216 by stumps, reaching 49/1. Zimbabwe faced early trouble with debutant Codi Yusuf taking two quick wickets, while opener Brian Bennett retired hurt after a blow to the helmet and was later ruled out with concussion.Captain Craig Ervine (36) and Williams added 81 runs—the only major stand. Keshav Maharaj (3/70), captaining in Temba Bavuma’s absence, claimed his 200th Test wicket. Wiaan Mulder also impressed with 4/50.South Africa’s young guns, including debutants Yusuf (3/42), Lhuan-dre Pretorius (153), and Dewald Brevis (51), all contributed significantly. Tony de Zorzi (22*) and Mulder (25*) ended the day solidly after Tanaka Chivanga took an early wicket.Despite not being part of the World Test Championship, South Africa fielded a young side and are in command heading into Day 3.
