Athletes from last year's Paris Olympics and Paralympics lead the nominees for the 2024 Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM)-100PLUS Awards. In the Athlete of the Year category, notable names include badminton duo Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik (bronze medalists), tenpin bowler Sin Li Jane (PWBA Tour Player of the Year), and wushu athlete Tan Cheong Min (gold at Macau Asian Championships). For Para Athlete of the Year, athletes like powerlifter Bonnie Bunyau Gustin (world record breaker) and long jumper Latif Romly (silver in Paris) are shortlisted.

The winners will receive RM10,000 and a trophy at the awards ceremony on July 14. SAM also announced prize increases, with RM10,000 for the Siebel Award (sports writing) and RM3,000 for the Popular Sports Commentator Award. SAM president Norismadi Abd Manap credited the increased submissions to the Paris Games and major sports issues of 2023.
