GAZA CITY — At least 51 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza on Monday, including 24 at a popular seafront rest area, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency. Eyewitnesses described horrifying scenes with body parts scattered and blood-soaked ground.
The strikes come amid fresh international calls for a ceasefire, following a truce between Israel and Iran. U.S. President Trump has urged Israel to “make the deal,” and Qatar said the Iran truce has created new “momentum.”
Despite this, Israel continues its offensive against Hamas. Gaza officials say the attacks also hit civilians near aid distribution centres in central and southern areas, killing 27 more. Survivors claim they were fired upon while collecting food.
The Israeli military said it's reviewing the reports but has yet to comment officially. The strikes also claimed the life of photojournalist Ismail Abu Hatab.
With over 56,000 deaths reported in Gaza since October 2023, and 49 hostages still held by Hamas, Israeli leaders remain divided — some pushing for continued operations, while opposition voices call for an end to the war, saying it no longer serves its purpose.
