Tropical Storm Danas brought heavy rains and flooding to China’s coastal tech hubs, especially Zhejiang and Fujian provinces, while monsoonal rains caused deadly landslides and flash floods inland. Over 6,000 people were evacuated in Sichuan province, and more than 300 relocated near Tibet due to floods. Meanwhile, a subtropical high-pressure system caused extreme heat along China’s northeast and central regions, straining power grids and agriculture. The combination of extreme weather, linked to climate change, threatens China’s economy and public safety, with past heatwaves causing tens of thousands of deaths.
