Mattel has launched its first Barbie doll with type 1 diabetes to promote inclusion and empathy among children. Created in partnership with Breakthrough T1D, the doll features a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) on her arm, an insulin pump on her waist, and accessories like a phone app to track blood sugar. Dressed in blue polka dots—symbolizing diabetes awareness—the release also includes a Lila Moss doll, inspired by the model who was diagnosed with T1D at age 12. The launch is part of Mattel’s broader push for diversity and representation in its Barbie line.
