Anwar Holds Bilateral Talks with Seven Nations and EU at ASEAN Summit

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held bilateral meetings with leaders from China, Australia, Pakistan, Turkiye, Palestine, the UK, and the EU during the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

In his talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Anwar highlighted Malaysia-China relations, including the ongoing efforts to narrow the trade gap and expand cooperation in sectors like LNG, digital economy, and green tech. He also appreciated China's support for ASEAN's Myanmar Five-Point Consensus and emphasized a peaceful resolution for the South China Sea issue.

With Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Anwar discussed strengthening ties in smart manufacturing, AI, renewable energy, and education. Both countries are set to sign a new MoU covering STEM, TVET, and student exchange. Anwar also acknowledged Australia's contribution to enhancing Malaysia's local vaccine capability. He looks forward to Australian PM Anthony Albanese’s visit in October to further bilateral relations.
