Foreigner nabbed for slashing ex-girlfriend in private college

SUBANG JAYA: Police have arrested a foreigner for slashing his former girlfriend at a private college here today.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the 20-year-old victim, also a foreigner, was in critical but stable condition with a slash wound to her neck.

He said the ex-boyfriend was detained shortly after the incident.

"At 6.30pm, Subang Jaya police received a report that a foreign man had injured his former girlfriend, also a foreigner, with a knife at a private university here.

"Investigations revealed that the victim, aged 20, had slash wounds to the left side of her neck. The victimwas sent to University Malaya Medical Centre and placed in the Red Zone.

"The victim is said to be in stable condition," he said.

Wan Azlan said the suspect in the case, a 21-year-old who is the victim's former boyfriend, was detained not long after the incident.

"The motive behind the attack is still under investigation," he said.

He added that the case has been classified under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, which carries a sentence of imprisonment of up to 10 years, fine or caning, or any two of the three punishments.
