Burnley’s owners, Velocity Sport Limited, have agreed to acquire La Liga side Espanyol, the Spanish club announced Monday. Both clubs will remain independent under the same investment group, which expands its presence to both the Premier League and La Liga. Espanyol’s current owner, China’s RASTAR Group, will transfer its shares into the new investment vehicle but retain involvement. Espanyol, who finished 14th in La Liga last season, have endured two relegations and promotions since RASTAR’s 2015 takeover.
