Real Madrid have signed Spanish left-back Alvaro Carreras from Benfica on a six-year contract until June 2031, as part of their summer rebuild. The 22-year-old, who came through Madrid’s academy before leaving for Manchester United in 2020, returns for a reported fee of €50 million. Carreras made 62 appearances and scored five goals for Benfica, initially joining them on loan before a €6 million permanent move in 2024. He is Madrid’s fourth summer signing, following Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and Franco Mastantuono, bringing their spending to around €170 million. Xabi Alonso now leads the team after replacing Carlo Ancelotti.
