Malaysian Tourism Agent Arrested for Alleged Assault and Threats in Japan

A 36-year-old Malaysian tourism agent was arrested yesterday evening in Sepang, Malaysia, for allegedly threatening and assaulting a Malaysian couple in Japan earlier this year.

The arrest follows a police report filed by the victims on January 28. The suspect, an acquaintance of the couple from a different travel agency, is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

One of the victims, 36-year-old tour guide Noornabilla Azemi, claims the suspect hit her head against a bed frame and issued death threats during an incident in Japan on January 24, witnessed by her husband. She also alleges the suspect assaulted her husband and another friend, stole 75,000 yen (approx. RM2,300), and ordered them to return to Malaysia immediately.

The alleged motive behind the assault is believed to be dissatisfaction over tourist arrangements to Japan.
