The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) is urging the government to continue providing subsidies for Electric Vehicles (EVs) beyond their current expiry of December 31, 2025.
According to MAA President Mohd Shamsor Mohd Zain, the current EV market in Malaysia, with only about 4% market share for fully electric vehicles and 4.6% for hybrid EVs, lacks the momentum to meet the government's target of 15% EV sales by 2030. He stressed that continued subsidies are crucial to build market traction and provide confidence for manufacturers' long-term production strategies.
