Police Helicopter Wreckage Recovered from Sungai Pulai
The wreckage of the police Airbus AS355N helicopter that crashed last Thursday in Sungai Pulai, Gelang Patah, was successfully recovered today. The operation, involving a salvage vessel, Marine Police Force (MPF) patrol boats, Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), and MPF divers, began at 8 AM and was aided by clear weather. The helicopter's remains were floated at 11 AM and lifted onto a salvage vessel 15 minutes later.
The helicopter, registration number 9M-PHG, crashed last Thursday during a flypast simulation for the MITSATOM 2025 joint exercise. All five police personnel on board survived. Two crew members, Constable RG Devendran and Corporal Adeline Liu Yan Sin, are in critical condition, while pilot Assistant Commissioner Faizul Muhammad, co-pilot Superintendent Ahmad Bustamin Baharom, and Sergeant Siti Latipa Khairuddin are stable and recovering. All are receiving treatment at Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA).
Investigators will now examine the helicopter's communication recording device found within the wreckage. The Airbus AS355N is a popular model, and the police have operated a fleet of five since 1996.
