Kelantan Police Raid Gay Gathering, Express Concern Over Illicit Activities

Kelantan police confirm they raided a gay gathering involving over 20 local men at a bungalow on Jalan Kemumin in mid-June. The operation, prompted by public tip-offs and intelligence, targeted a "food party" reportedly aimed at the gay community.

State police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat stated that while over 100 men were expected, most had dispersed by the time of the 1 AM raid, leaving around 20 individuals. The event, promoted on social media, required a fee and was intended to last until morning.

During the raid, police found hundreds of condoms and HIV medication, suggesting preparations for sexual activity, though no such activity was observed at the time. Investigations into three individuals' phones revealed gay pornographic content, leading to their charging. Some participants were found to be HIV positive and undergoing treatment.

Mohd Yusoff expressed concern that such gatherings could spread immoral activities and diseases like HIV. He urged the public to report any information about similar closed-door events. This is reportedly the first such raid in Kelantan, and police vow to continue monitoring these groups due to their "increasingly bold" activities.
