Sultan of Selangor Stresses Adherence to Law in Judicial Appointments

Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor emphasized that all senior judicial appointments to the superior courts, including the Chief Justice and President of the Court of Appeal, must strictly adhere to Article 122B of the Federal Constitution and other legal provisions.

Speaking after chairing the 269th Meeting of the Conference of Rulers, the Sultan fully supported Istana Negara's July 10 statement regarding the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's power to make these appointments based on the Prime Minister's advice and after consulting the Conference of Rulers.

The Sultan stressed that this constitutional process must be transparent and careful to uphold the rule of law and justice. He urged all parties to avoid speculation or unfounded accusations.
