GEORGE TOWN — Former Penang deputy chief minister II Dr P. Ramasamy today withdrew his defamation suit against Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow over the controversial Batu Kawan land sale.
Sessions Court Judge Helmi Ghani recorded the consent judgment after Ramasamy’s lawyer, Dr Shamsher Thind Singh, informed the court his client agreed to withdraw the case without the right to re-file.
Ramasamy had sued Chow last year over an October 2023 Facebook post he claimed tarnished his reputation, linked to the cancelled Penang Development Corporation-Umech Land deal for 226 hectares in Byram, Batu Kawan.
Chow was represented by lawyer A. Ruebankumar.
