SEREMBAN — Negeri Sembilan residents have been urged to avoid open burning, which worsens air quality and endangers health, especially as haze season begins.
State executive councillor S. Veerapan said the Air Pollutant Index remains moderate, but dry weather raises fire risks in plantations and bush areas. The DOE will step up patrols to prevent illegal burning, he added.
“Report any open burning immediately, and avoid outdoor activities if the API turns unhealthy,” he advised. The haze stems from rising hotspot activity in Sumatra and Kalimantan, Indonesia.
