Masood Azhar, chief of the terror outfit Jaish e-Mohammed and a key accused in several terror attacks in India, is one of the most wanted terrorists by Indian authorities. Despite India’s repeated demands to hand him over, Pakistan has consistently denied his presence in the country. Former Pakistani minister Bilawal Bhutto even claimed that Azhar might be in Afghanistan. However, recent Indian intelligence reports reveal that Masood Azhar is likely hiding in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PAK), specifically in the Gilgit-Baltistan region nearly 1,000 km from his earlier base in Bahawalpur, Punjab province. He was reportedly spotted near the Satpara Road area, where the location includes two mosques, madrasas, a government guest house, and other facilities. This site is approximately 350 km from Jammu and Kashmir. The revelation comes shortly after India’s “Operation Sindoor,” which targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan, including Azhar’s main base in Bahawalpur. Around 10 members of his family were reportedly killed in the strikes, but Azhar is believed to have escaped. With his presence close to the Indian border, there are growing concerns that he may be planning new terror attacks on Indian soil.
