KUALA LUMPUR — The Works Ministry needs RM4 billion for road maintenance this year but received only RM2.2 billion, leaving a 45% shortfall, Deputy Minister Ahmad Maslan said. He cited weather, overloaded vehicles, and ageing roads as key damage factors, stressing the urgency of upkeep to ensure safety. Citing MIROS data, he noted 13% of accidents stem from poor road conditions, and vowed to push for a higher budget next year.
