SEOUL — South Korean President Lee Jae-myung on Tuesday urged officials to “spare no effort” in finding the missing and restoring damaged areas after days of torrential rain killed 19, left 9 missing, and displaced over 2,500 people.
Lee criticised lax officials and ordered a new, region-specific disaster response system. Nearly 3,800 homes and facilities were damaged, with cleanup ongoing. Lee, who pledged to improve safety after past disasters, saw his approval dip slightly during the crisis.
