ESSEN, Germany: The Malaysian men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team set a new national record at the 2025 FISU World University Games in Berlin, clocking 7:19.66 to finish sixth in the final.
The team—Khiew Hoe Yean, Arvin Shaun Singh Chahal, Lim Yin Chuen, and Tan Khai Xin—surpassed the previous record of 7:19.75 set at the 2022 SEA Games.
The United States won gold with a record-breaking 7:04.51, followed by Individual Neutral Athletes and Japan. So far, Malaysia’s only medal at the Games is Hoe Yean’s bronze in the men’s 400m freestyle.
